About June
A slow morning, a better evening
Our story, in a sentence
We wanted a place in Kandy where you could take your time: over avocado toast and a smoothie bowl before the temple, a plate of kottu after a long day, or a pot of Ceylon tea and a book on a hot afternoon.
That place is June — on DS Senanayake Veediya, about a seven-minute walk from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Travellers stop by on their way to Ella, Nuwara Eliya and Sigiriya, or before a trek in Udawatta Kele Sanctuary. Locals come back week after week; one guest wrote on Google that June has been their go-to dining spot for nearly two years.
We serve dine-in, takeaway, delivery and catering, and host occasional events in the bistro, such as movie nights.

The room
Vines, lamplight and leather booths
Hand-finished plaster walls, a timber ceiling wrapped in trailing vines, woven brass lamps, a window bar lined with books — and air conditioning, which guests escaping the Kandy heat appreciate most of all.
How we cook
Four things we always do
Fresh to order
Nothing waits under a lamp. Every dish is cooked when you order it and served as soon as it’s ready.
A proper portion
Each dish is made with 100 g of protein, by raw weight. Add an extra egg or chicken if you’re hungry.
Your spice, your way
Low, Medium or High — just tell us. We’d rather ask than guess.
Room for everyone
Vegan and gluten-free dishes are clearly marked, the kitchen is halal-friendly, and our seating is wheelchair accessible.
The team
“The staff were friendly and welcoming.”
It’s the line that turns up again and again in our reviews. Our team will help you choose, tell you honestly how hot “High” really is, and bring out the board games when you ask.
